O-Rings are great, but they create friction (drag) because they are squashed between plates. This can rob a little horsepower from the bike. X-Ring technology solves this by using a ring with an "X" cross-section instead of an "O".
Never clean O-Ring/X-Ring chains with gasoline or harsh solvents! These will melt the rubber rings. Use kerosene or specialized "O-Ring Safe" cleaners.
